App: WhereNote
Contact: Support

WhereNote is designed to help users create, save, share, review, and interact with place-based content. To protect users, businesses, and the integrity of the app, WhereNote may restrict or remove content or accounts that violate this Content Moderation Policy.

1. Content Covered by This Policy

This policy may apply to:

  • Users and user profiles
  • Images
  • WhereNotes or markers
  • Reviews
  • Comments
  • Reports, flags, or related moderation records

Private user-created organization tools, such as personal Tags and FootNotes, are generally not reviewed unless they become relevant to a safety, legal, abuse, or support issue.

2. Prohibited Content and Conduct

WhereNote may remove, restrict, or take action against content or accounts involving:

  • Hate speech or discriminatory abuse
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or intimidation
  • Doxxing or sharing another person’s private information
  • Spam, scams, fraudulent activity, or promotional abuse
  • Sexual, exploitative, or inappropriate content, especially involving minors
  • Graphic violence or encouragement of violence
  • Illegal activity or instructions that facilitate illegal activity
  • Weapons-related abuse or threats
  • Drug-related abuse or illegal drug promotion
  • Misinformation that creates a risk of harm
  • Self-harm, suicide, or crisis-related content
  • Attempts to evade moderation filters
  • Content that violates applicable law or the rights of others

WhereNote may also restrict content that is abusive, unsafe, deceptive, or inconsistent with the purpose of the app, even if not specifically listed above.

3. Automated Filters

WhereNote may use automated filters to block or restrict certain submitted text, including profanity, sensitive personal information, spam-like content, adult services, drugs, exploitation, violence, weapons, or other prohibited categories.

Automated filters may not catch every violation and may sometimes block content incorrectly.

4. User Reports and Flagging

Users may report content or users through available reporting tools.

When a report is submitted:

  • The reported content may be hidden or blocked for the reporting user
  • A content moderation report may be created
  • The reported user or content creator is not automatically notified
  • WhereNote may review the report and determine what action, if any, is appropriate

Available report reasons may include but are not limited to:

  • Hate Speech
  • Spam
  • Inappropriate
  • Misinformation
  • Doxxing
  • Harassment
  • Self Harm Risk
  • Other Reason

5. Moderation Actions

WhereNote may take one or more actions in response to reported or detected content, including:

  • No action
  • Hiding content from a reporting user
  • Removing or restricting content
  • Limiting feature access
  • Warning a user
  • Suspending or disabling an account
  • Blocking interactions between users
  • Preserving records for safety, legal, or abuse-prevention purposes
  • Reporting or disclosing information when required by law or necessary to protect safety

WhereNote may consider context, severity, repeated behavior, safety risk, and available evidence when making moderation decisions.

6. Images

WhereNote does not proactively review every image before it is uploaded or posted.

However, images may be reviewed if they are reported, associated with abuse, associated with a legal or safety concern, or otherwise brought to WhereNote’s attention.

Images that violate this policy may be removed or restricted. WhereNote may preserve or disclose information related to images when required by law, legal process, safety concerns, or abuse-prevention needs.

7. Reviews

Reviews should reflect a user’s genuine experience and should not be used for harassment, spam, threats, private information sharing, or manipulation.

WhereNote may remove or restrict reviews that violate this policy or undermine the integrity of review features.

8. Appeals and Support

Users may contact WhereNote if they believe content or an account was restricted in error.

WhereNote may review support requests as operationally feasible, especially during the Alpha phase. Not all moderation actions may be reversible.

9. Changes to This Policy

WhereNote may update this Content Moderation Policy as the app develops, as new risks are identified, or as legal or platform requirements change.

The updated policy will be posted at the applicable policy URL with a revised effective date
